STANLEY R. AND MARTHA C. HELBERT SCHOLARSHIP
INFORMATION SHEET

The Stanley R. and Martha C. Helbert Memorial Scholarship was established in 2003 by members of the Helbert and Lindamood families. The Helberts grandchildren are Pony Club graduates and are still active volunteers, and the Helberts daughter, Nancy Lindamood has been very involved with Pony Club at the local, regional and national level for many years.

Purpose

To encourage Pony Club members in their academic pursuits in the Liberal Arts area such as literature, music, theater, visual arts. One $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually.

Qualifications

Recipient must be a current Pony Club member, must have entered their senior year in high school at the time of application, and have been accepted to (or attending) an institution of higher education and with the intent of majoring in the field of Liberal Arts.

Application

1. Applicant must complete the USPC Scholarship Application Form, which is available on the USPC web site. The completed original form must be delivered to the USPC office by March 31st. No faxed copies will be accepted.
2. Applicant must submit a letter from his/her school verifying that (s)he has been accepted to, or is enrolled full-time at an institution of higher education (this may include university, college, community college, technical or vocational school) at the time of application.
3. Applicant must submit a current transcript with an overall average of at least 2.0 from the institution (or from high school, if applicant is a high school senior).
4. Applicant must submit at least two letters of recommendation, of which one must be from the District Commissioner or Regional Supervisor of the Pony Club where (s)he is a member.
5. Recipient may re-apply for a second consecutive one-year scholarship after receiving the first award by submitting a letter to the scholarship committee along with a transcript showing that recipient has maintained the qualifying GPA. Recipient may receive no more than two consecutive scholarships.

Selection

Recipient(s) are selected by the USPC Scholarship Committee (as named by USPC) and announced by June 30 through the USPC Development Department.
