Starting a Pony Club Riding Center

Thank you for your interest in becoming a USPC recognized Pony Club Riding Center.  The USPC Riding Center program provides a license to independent riding facilities for use of USPC materials and resources and for teaching the USPC curricula to their clients who also become members of USPC, thereby increasing access to the Pony Club experience.

The $50 application fee is non-refundable so please read through the below criteria carefully before submitting an application. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the USPC Riding Center Liaison before submitting an application (memberservices@ponyclub.org or 859-559-0660).

Qualified Applicants Will/Have:

  • Proof of minimum $1M commercial general liability insurance coverage
  • Abide by USPC Policies and Procedures regarding safety practices and equipment, including use of ASTM/SEI approved riding helmets and appropriate footwear
  • Equine Liability Warning Notice posted as required by applicable state and/or federal law
  • Ability to offer group lessons and unmounted instruction
  • Identify appropriate instructors
  • Safely enclosed arena (may not be enclosed solely with wire, such as electric or barbed wire)
  • Ability of specified personnel to favorably complete USPC’s background check screening, Safe Sport™ Trained Course and all other USPC training modules and/or quizzes as required
  • Favorable Veterinarian reference
  • Clients able to participate in the Pony Club program by joining USPC (2024 dues = $135-155, subject to change) and the local region (regional dues vary).
  • If applicable, will adhere to the United States Eventing Association (USEA) Cross-Country Course Design Guidelines

Note: This list is not inclusive and other criteria may be established at any time as deemed appropriate by USPC.

USPC may, at its sole discretion, require further information – including, but not limited to additional references, photos and/or videos of facility, horses, lessons, a site inspection, or an instructional evaluation.

By becoming a USPC recognized Pony Club Riding Center, a facility representative agrees to participate in the assigned USPC Region as specified in USPC By-Laws and Policies and the Riding Center agreement.
